Hi, I am James. I have loved music from an early age, and although born in the late 1970s, as I had much older siblings, growing up I listened a lot to 60s and 70’s music, which has left a legacy of my loving the Beatles, Paul McCartney and Wings amongst others.
Following in my father’s footsteps, (who sang in a male voice choir and played assorted instruments including the spoons, penny whistle, mouth organ etc), I started to sing, dabble in keyboards and drums, then taught myself to play acoustic guitar after just one free lesson, lacking the funds to pay for tuition!
I enjoy singing and playing guitar, and with my band, have organised charity concerts, often to raise money for churches or other good causes around the country. I have led worship in several churches over the years and have a deep love for Christian and Gospel music which is reflected in my Sunday slot JC’s Gospel Show(8-10pm).
I have a wide taste in music and love the opportunity to explore that when covering for other presenters. I have also worked as a DJ for parties and functions where a breadth of music knowledge is essential. I also have a passion for community and like to reflect that by promoting local events, news, and inviting guests on to my radio shows to share their interests and their hearts with our wonderful Brumside Radio audience.
I am supported by my wife, Jenny who shares my love of music and my wider family, while my border collie cross, Sadie, is not so sure about my live music but will curl up on the settee to listen to the sound of my voice during my show
