I first got my start in Radio in mid 1994, with a slot on Hospital Radio, before moving to other slots most notable being The Breakfast Bash (Saturdays 6-10am), I eventually left there working for several different stations.
By 2015 I was at a Community Station working as cover, when I was invited to return to the station I started at back in 1994, it was at this time The Sunday Bash was born, we remained there until 2020 before moving on again, renaming the show simply as The Bash.
By 2020 an embryonic Brumside Radio had been formed, following a meeting with Richard Laundon it was agreed we would bring The Bash to Kings Heath, Covid struck the country & we parted ways, until 2024 when a chance conversation between my Wife / Co-Producer & Richard Laundon resulted in us returning in August 2024.
I’m now proud to say that I am “Assistant Head Of Music” one of my functions in this role is to ensure that no tracks contain foul language, quite a lot of the “Radio Edits” you hear on Brumside Radio are done by me. The Bash was so named because as a previous programme controller suggested “We Have A Bash At Anything” that is to say we may not play everything but we do play ANYTHING.
I have a deep passion for “records” I have an extensive collection of my own & also a reasonably good knowledge, over the years it has been a privilege to meet several celebrities, inc Norman Wisodm, Roy Castle, Pete Phipps, Gerry Shepherd, Ally De Foy & Sarit Black just to name a few, but the one that stands out above all others was when I interviewed Mike Reid (DJ).
The Bash has now been back at Brumside Radio for over 20 months, on Friday Evening “Live From 5” we are very proud to represent Brumside Radio, we are also sponsored by Www.best-businesses.co.uk
