Ian Morris

HI, I’m Ian. Born in Moseley and lived in Kings Heath until my parents had finally had enough of me! It was always a vibrant high street back then, and still is today, so being offered a radio show broadcast from there was an offer I couldn’t refuse.

Music has always been a huge part of my life, my house was always full of music growing up, with my father having been a lead singer in a Birmingham group called the Sidewinders in the 60’s. My parents liked different music styles, with Rock N Roll being one of the favourites, but amongst Dad’s record collection I found some Reggae, the likes of John Holt, and Trojan Explosion, and so my love of Reggae and bass began.

My CD collection (Yes, I still have one) has a lot of UB40, and the first music gig I went to was Labour of love at the NEC. As I got old enough to travel, I headed to Ayia Napa, and Ibiza each year, and my love for Trance, House, Garage etc began. Watching the sun go down at Café Mambo, and café Del Mar, celebrating the day and welcoming the night with hundreds of fellow clubbers, and some lifelong friends is hair standing up stuff, memories to last a lifetime.

I WISH I STILL HAD HAIR THAT COULD STAND UP!

Anytime I hear a classic from those days I’m taken back to a time that was magical, a time I wish I could go back to, they were simpler times, and we survived without having mobile phones.

My show is called Saturday Anthems, and the music I play is 90’s right up to modern day, to transport people back in time to those moments they want to relive, to feel those vibes again, and be reminded of friends still around, and to remember those who aren’t fondly. So please come and have a listen, and send me requests, I’ll always do my best to play them.
